Stanley G. Tate — A STARS Legacy

A Miami native and business executive, Mr. Tate was instrumental in the creation and early development of the Florida Prepaid College Program and the Florida Prepaid College Foundation.  It was his vision to provide Florida families with an affordable means to save for their children’s future college education and to provide access to higher education for those that could not afford it. Mr. Tate served tirelessly as Board Chairman from 1987-2005.

The Stanley G. Tate Project STARS (Scholarship Tuition for At-Risk Students) Program is the Foundation’s hallmark program. Since Project STARS began in 1990, over 47,000 scholarships have been awarded to low-income students at risk of dropping out of school, and who otherwise might not have had the opportunity to attend college.

Thank you Mr. Tate for your vision for Florida and the Florida Prepaid College Foundation.
