2022 Native American Heritage Month

The Florida Prepaid College Foundation is proud to have sponsored the inaugural Governor Ron DeSantis and First Lady Casey DeSantis 2022 Native American Heritage Month Essay Contest. The theme celebrated the “Achievements of Native American Floridians.” Native American Heritage Month is recognized and celebrated in the United States from November 1 to November 30.

The Foundation supported the Governor’s Native American Heritage Month event through the award of Florida College scholarships to essay contest winners. The contest was open to Florida students from 4th through 12th grade.

Congratulations to the 2022 Native American Heritage Month Essay Contest winners! Each winning student received a 2-Year Florida College Plan Scholarship from the Florida Prepaid College Foundation.

  • Middle School Category: Ellis Holzman, A.D. Henderson University School, and Olivia Hilby, West Shore Jr./Sr. High School
  • High School Category: Prairie Stewart, West Port High School, and Mia Gilbert, Fort Myers High School
